Transcript by talk
What was said from the stage, word for word: the moderator’s introduction, the talk and the questions from the audience for every segment. The text is the same one that runs as subtitles on YouTube.
How to read
- The text is what was said, without literary editing: slips of the tongue, repetitions and colloquial turns are kept; stutters, “uh”s and restarts of a phrase were removed.
- Source: the published English subtitle track of the video — the same text that runs on YouTube, translated from the Russian block by block. The Russian version is the primary one.
- Speakers are not labeled: the recording has no speaker separation. A dash at the start of a paragraph marks a change of speaker where the subtitles and a pause confirm it; not every change is marked. In the “Q&A” part, the questions, the speaker’s answers and the moderator’s remarks run one after another.
- Subheadings were placed by hand: “Moderator’s introduction” up to the speaker’s first words, then the topics inside the talk and “Q&A”. The topics are the same as the chapters in the video description on YouTube.
- Names, companies and talk titles follow the official program. The organizer did not disclose the debate guests (the program says “Nikita Vyugin & secret guests”) and put no on-screen captions for them; in the recording Vyugin names them: Yuri Tikhoglaz, Yan Gorodetsky, Anton Antropov — the surnames are written down by ear and there is nothing to check them against.
- Applause and laughter are not marked: YouTube’s automatic captions contain a single applause marker for this recording.
- There are no timecodes in the transcript. To jump to the right point of the video, use the “Watch from…” link in the header of a talk.
- Not in the recording: the talk by Ekaterina Mingaraeva (SEUSLAB), the closed-door part of day 1 and the opening of the time capsule, the second half of day 2 — the recording breaks off mid-sentence during Yuri Pavensky’s talk. Breaks are cut out; the cuts are marked in italics in square brackets.
- Paragraphs match the Russian version paragraph for paragraph. Where an English block could not be split at the same sentence, the boundary was moved to the edge of the block (12 places).
